At FreshDirect and Foodkick, we proudly partner with innovative local growers to introduce unique products that would ordinarily be unavailable in traditional urban and suburban markets. Our business model lends itself to these types of partnerships, allowing us to work directly with small, family-run farms to source fresh products. Simply put, it brings us great pleasure to bring ‘farmstand’ quality items to the streets of New York City.
We are pleased to introduce to you Q Farms Pasture Chicken, raised locally in Sharon, CT. This is a really special bird: a cross of both American (New Hampshire) and European (Sussex) heritage breeds, it’s raised in moveable tents with continuous access to the nutrient-rich pasture, in addition to receiving non-GMO grain and fresh water.
There are a lot of claims that make this chicken special (it’s local, pasture-raised, slow-growth, air-chilled, and raised without antibiotics). But that’s only part of what makes it great. Q Farms Chicken has a distinctively rich and flavorful taste that will impress. And while it is still a small-batch, farmstand-style bird, Q Farms Chicken is professionally processed and packaged in a local USDA facility, so you can expect a nicely-trimmed and cleaned finished product.
What you’re getting with Q Farms chicken is something truly rare and special. Since these birds are raised with such great care by a small team of dedicated farmers, only a limited quantity are harvested each week, with about 75 birds being committed to FreshDirect and FoodKick each week. Additionally, since they are grown in a temperate environment with harsh winters, they’re only available seasonally from May through October. We view its limited availability as further proof that this is a wonderful item, raised to the highest standards.
We highly encourage you to support our local farming partners by adding Q to your queue!
