We do things a little bit differently here at FreshDirect, and by differently we mean we drink bone broth from cups and eat our smoothies in bowls. But if Instagram has taught us anything, it’s that styling a smoothie bowl is actually way trendier than eating a smoothie. Too bad because our easy versions are too good not to eat. Learn how to create your very own smoothie bowls after the jump.
Mean Green Smoothie Machine
What You’ll Need:
2 big handfuls of spinach
1 cup of almond milk
1 cup of frozen pineapple
1 cup of frozen mango
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup of ice
Chia seeds
Toppings: chia seeds, mango, coconut, blueberries
What to Do:
Blend spinach, almond milk, pineapple, mango, banana, and ice together in a blender until smooth.
The recipe will yield two smoothie bowls. Pour half of your smoothie into a bowl and freeze the remainder. (The next day simply re-blend the frozen smoothie and enjoy a bowl two days in a row.)
Add your favorite toppings. We suggest fresh mango, chia seeds, coconut chips, and blueberries, but have fun with your favorite produce.
Dragonfruit Punch
What You’ll Need:
2 packs of Pitaya Dragon Fruit
1/2 cup of frozen berries
1/2 cup of almond milk
1 frozen banana
Toppings: goji berries, nuts, kiwi, flax seeds, blackberries
What to Do:
Blend two packs of Pitaya with frozen berries, almond milk, and a frozen banana until smooth.
Pour your smoothie into a bowl and add your favorite toppings. We think our goji berry nut mix, which is chock-full of almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds, is a great topping with a nice crunch that pairs well with the subtle dragon fruit flavor. We also added tart kiwis and blackberries to this purple smoothie.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Power
What You’ll Need:
1/2 cup of almond milk
2-4 frozen bananas
4-8 tbsp. of unsweetened cocoa powder
2-4 tbsp. of peanut butter
1/2 cup of ice
Toppings: hazelnuts, bananas, sesame seeds, coconut, dark chocolate, sea salt
What to Do:
Blend almond milk with frozen bananas (we used two here but suggest up to four depending on your taste preference and how much smoothie you want to make), unsweetened cocoa powder (again, play with the amount depending on how much chocolate flavor you want), peanut butter, and ice until smooth.
Chocolate and peanut butter call for more chocolate, right? We topped this creamy smoothie with more chocolate chips, hazelnuts, sesame seeds, coconut chips, and just a sprinkle of sea salt.
