Brioche buns are great, but it’s time to bid adieu to bread and say hello to three new ways to hug your burger.
1. Just add bacon.
On a cookie sheet, “weave” your bacon and bake at 400° for 15-20 minutes or until crispy. Once cooled, cut the braided bacon half to create two “buns.” We added fresh lettuce, crunchy onion, and melted cheddar cheese to this patty. A meat-lover’s new favorite.
2. Get sweet with a waffle.
Follow the instructions of your favorite waffle mix and bake for 5 minutes. Top your burger with bacon, a fried egg, and maple syrup for a breakfast-inspired burger. In fact, eat this for breakfast! We won’t judge.
3. Go green.
If the health nut in you wants to ditch the bun altogether, we’ve got your answer. Simply boil water and drop large collard green leaves in for 30-60 seconds. Remove and place into ice water immediately—this will make the leaves more moldable. Wrap your burger (we used a turkey burger here!) with onion, tomato, and avocado, and serve with spicy Sriracha. So. So. Good.
