It means “tastes good.”
“I wanted to create a classic French country red wine,” says FreshDirect’s wine merchant, Nicole, of our Le Bon Goût Rustic Red Syrah Blend. “Something to be enjoyed with good friends and good food—and that offers great value for our customers.”
Nicole worked closely with her contact, French wine merchant, Emilie, who has built an impressive portfolio of producers throughout France’s many wine regions. After hearing what Nicole had in mind, Emilie knew right away where she could source the perfect “vineyard to table” wine exclusively for FreshDirect.
Second-generation winemaker Cyril Henriques (pictured above) owns and runs Domaine Força Real, a vineyard which basks in the Mediterranean sunshine of the Côtes du Roussillon region located 25 miles from the Spanish border. Here, the dry, warm, and windy climate is beneficial to the growing of all-natural grapes. The near-constant breezes that dance through the vineyard mean that Cyril can rely on Mother Nature to get rid of any pesky bugs, and not pesticides. In fact, Cyril and his team use no chemicals on their grapes at all and conduct the entire wine-making process on site: Grow. Harvest. Bottle.
So now to the big question: How does Le Bon Goût taste? Nicole describes it as: “A medium-bodied wine with an excellent balance of ripe red fruit, earthiness, spice, and tannins. This wine is designed to complement and enhance an array of dishes, not overwhelm them. I love it simply with a nice piece of cheese and a crusty baguette. Even just sipping on its own this red instantly takes me to the beautiful, rustic countryside of southern France.”
