Apple pie, candy apples, apple cider donuts… apples are about as essential to fall as cozy sweaters and Sunday football. They not only are the star ingredient of some of the most popular seasonal desserts, but also a deliciously sweet and refreshing addition to drinks, especially adult ones. We’re talking mixing up apple cider with whiskey and other ingredients that add a buzzy glow.

This cocktail recipe gives you apple three ways. It starts first with hard apple cider, followed by a boozy spike of bourbon and nutty amaretto. Non-alcoholic cider and maple syrup are then added to mellow the mixture out a bit. Finally, a slice of fresh apple is placed on top, along with a zippy cinnamon sugar rim. This recipe makes about six cocktails, which is perfect for a group bonfire, a game-watching get together, or for the adults at a Halloween party.
