The stage: Industry City in Brooklyn. The event: an epic #SundaeShowdown between five bloggers. At stake: a fabulous grand prize—and glory for creating the best sundae featuring FreshDirect ingredients and Blue Marble ice cream. Who took the top honors? And what were the crazy ingredients? (Hint: The winning sundae featured tahini!) Click through to find out.
And the winner is: Jackie Gebel! Her one-of-a-kind creation took home the grand prize. Our judges were wowed by her use of homemade honey tahini and Blue Marble green tea ice cream.
Jackie also topped her cookies & cream and green tea ice creams with crushed Oreos, sesame toasted almonds, Brownie Brittle, and toasted sesame seeds.
Eden came in a close second by topping her sea salted caramel ice cream with rum and maple whipped cream (Castillo Gold Rum, Coombs Family Maple Syrup, and Tuscan Dairy Farm Whipping Cream), and grated walnuts. She won major brownie points by piling it all on top of a Salt of the Earth brownie.
Jessica served her sundae in a bowl—a challah bread bowl! She topped vanilla ice cream with mixed berries, Nutella, chocolate-covered pretzels, and fudge sauce.
Gillie paired vanilla ice cream with strawberries, balsamic vinegar, basil, and pistachios.
Kayleigh served “breakfast” by adding bananas, sea salt, maple syrup, crushed coffee beans, and Cap’n Crunch cereal to vanilla ice cream. Sounds like the best meal of the day!
