No bucket? No problem. We used a large pumpkin to make an ice bucket for one of our favorite white wines, and it made us wonder how we didn’t think of it sooner. While it serves its primary purpose — to keep your wine cold — it also makes a fantastic Halloween or Thanksgiving centerpiece. You can even create a virgin version filled with soda cans for the kids table.
What You’ll Need:
-Your favorite wine
What to Do:
We started by drawing a line around our pumpkin before carving. Make sure you’re cutting just above the greatest width so you can fit your wine bottle comfortably. Use a large knife to cut at your line.
Once you remove the top, scoop out the pumpkin until it’s smooth and clean. (Make sure to reserve those seeds for roasting later!) If you have a smaller knife or carving tool, level out the pumpkin edges.
Add your ice, add your wine, voila! We kept the top around to lean on our pumpkin for extra decoration, but you can also use it for a hat (see Tenley’s pumpkin fedora for inspiration).
