There’s a reason why spicy and sweet go together like…spicy and sweet. “Ensalada de Frutas con Chile”—or fruit salad with chili—is the perfect combo of both. Better yet, you can sub in your favorite fruits and add a sprinkle of salt for an unexpected snack. It’s flavorful, juicy, and the ideal pre-drink snack on Cinco de Mayo. It doesn’t hurt that it’s bright and cheery, too.
What You’ll Need:
– Mango
– Papaya
– Pineapple
– Dragon fruit
– Chili powder
– Salt
– Limes
What To Do:
When it comes to slicing your fruit, choose whatever method tickles your taste buds. We like long wedges, but totally understand if you’re a cubed fruit kind of person.
Squeeze lime juice over the wedges. Not so much into tart lime? Skip this step altogether.
Dip or sprinkle fruit with chili pepper. We went with a slight sprinkle of chili powder and a dash of salt, but if you appreciate the Spice with a capital S, have fun adding chili powder to all sides of your fruit.
Don’t count out fruits like watermelon or even grapes, which actually taste pretty good with a bit of a kick. Turns out that a drizzle of lime juice and a sprinkle of chili powder goes a long way. Disfruta! We mean, enjoy!
