Dear FreshDirect Customers,

Early this year, when FreshDirect first joined forces with New York Common Pantry to help in their fight against hunger, we couldn’t have imagined what the next nine months would bring. Since the start of the pandemic, NYCP has seen a 25% increase in pantry sign-ups as food insecurity in our area has grown, and they expect this need to continue.

Over that same time, we launched on-site donations on FreshDirect.com and we saw how you, our customers, supported the cause until you raised over $1.5 million dollars—every dollar of which goes directly to NYCP to provide meals to individuals and families in New York City. Your continued generosity has put us on track to raise $2 million by Thanksgiving, which is simply awe-inspiring.

At FreshDirect, we were able to see NYCP’s impact first-hand. When the quarantine reduced the organization’s volunteer base, we stepped up to do the work of sourcing, packing and delivering food, which went toward serving over 400,000 meals during the height of the pandemic. And this month, NYCP’s Bronx-based corporate employees will be moving into office space at our Bronx headquarters free of charge, growing our partnership further and creating more opportunities for our teams to work with and learn from one another.
