At first glance, these tulips are the perfect shade of red. Oh wait, they aren’t tulips at all! But they ARE about to become your favorite go-to appetizer. Learn how to make your own edible tulips after the jump.
What You’ll Need:
Tomatoes (we used Campari tomatoes)
Mozzarella (we used Ciliegini)
Scallions
Toothpicks
What to Do:
Slice tomatoes in quarters, but don’t cut them all the way through. Use a small spoon to remove the inside of the tomatoes.
Insert a ball of mozzarella into each tomato (cut to size if you need to). If you don’t have mozzarella handy, you can fill your tomatoes with cream cheese and spices.
Use a toothpick to “attach” the scallion to the tomato and mozzarella. Just be sure to remove it before eating! (Try subbing in basil and you’ve got an adorable new way to eat a caprese salad.)
