For the sixth day of 12 days of cookies<\/a>, we’re going overboard on all the goodies with these genius Chocolate Chip Oreo Christmas Mashup Cookies from Dara of The Skinny Pig!<\/p>\n

From Dara: I didn\u2019t know what holiday cookies I wanted to make this year, but I knew I wanted it to be simple, tasty, and Oreo-related. Why? Because Oreos are delicious. Duh. Seriously: they\u2019re easily one of my favorite cookies (from a grocery store anyway), and I thought why not mix it with my OTHER favorite cookie, chocolate chip? To make them Christmas-y, I added some teeny tiny red and green Christmas tree sprinkles on top before baking.<\/em><\/p>\n

Chocolate Chip OREO Christmas Cookie Mashup<\/h1>\n

Makes about 30 cookies
\n<\/em>
\nWhat You’ll Need:<\/strong>
\n2 sticks (8 oz) unsalted butter, at room temperature
\n1\/4 cup white sugar
\n3\/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
\n1\/2 teaspoon baking powder
\n1\/2 teaspoon baking soda
\n1\/2 teaspoon kosher salt
\n1 teaspoon vanilla extract
\n1 egg
\n1 3\/4 cups all-purpose flour
\n1 cup chocolate chips
\n1 cup crushed OREO cookies (see crushing guidelines below)
\nChristmas sprinkles (optional)<\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.<\/p>\n

To crush the Oreos:<\/strong> Place Oreos in a large zip-close bag, pushing out as much air as possible before sealing it (you don’t want to pop the bag and have Oreo debris in your kitchen). Take a large, heavy spoon or a rolling pin and smash the Oreos into chunky pieces. <\/p>\n

To make the cookies:<\/strong> In a stand mixer (or a large bowl with a hand mixer), add the butter, sugar, brown sugar, egg, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and vanilla. Blend together until creamy and smooth.<\/p>\n

Set the mixer to low speed and slowly add in the flour. Turn off the mixer and fold in Oreos and chocolate chips with a spatula or spoon.<\/p>\n

Roll dough into small balls, about 2 tablespoons per cookie. Drop dough balls on an ungreased cookie sheet or sheets. Sprinkle each with sprinkles. <\/p>\n

Bake cookies until golden brown, 12\u201314 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to let cool. <\/p>\n
