A Message From Our New CEO

Dear valued customer,

First and foremost, I want to thank you for your loyalty and for being our customer. We pride ourselves on providing you and your family with the best fresh food in the world and we take that commitment very seriously.

I'm David McInerney, FreshDirect's co-founder and new CEO. As co-founder my primary job has been to travel the country‐and the world‐searching for the highest quality, best-tasting food for you and your family. I'm excited and honored to be taking on this new position as CEO and wanted to share a few things with you.

My entire career has been in food and there's nothing I'm more passionate about. If there's one thing I've learned in our business it's that we can find the most amazing food in the world, but none of that matters if it doesn't get from us to your kitchen effortlessly. That's why our mission, since day one, has been to make great food easy to get.

I know that we've recently fallen short on that goal and for that I'm sorry. We began to outgrow our first home in Long Island City several years ago and we've moved into a brand new campus in the Bronx designed to make your FreshDirect experience better than ever before. That transition has not been as smooth as we planned.

I understand that the challenges we've faced have potentially eroded the trust and credibility we built with you over years of great service. We're focused on earning that trust back and I have aligned the entire company on making things right. We will get back to the standards you expect by focusing on and delivering these promises:

  • The food you need is in stock when you are shopping.
  • The delivery time you want is available.
  • Your order arrives on time and in perfect condition.
  • If there's an issue, we fix it immediately and easily.

Beyond these promises there are many other things we are doing to enhance your FreshDirect experience. We've improved the process of getting fresh product from farms and fishing boats to your table - so your food tastes even better. We've built bigger and better kitchens to expand our menu of prepared meals and we're working on better ways for you to track your deliveries and manage your orders. I'm excited about these new innovations and confident that we'll soon deliver our best ever FreshDirect experience, making great food even easier to get.
