Make a Manhattan

A popular history has this timeless American classic originating at the Manhattan Club in the early 1870s. Made up of two-parts whiskey, one-part sweet vermouth, two dashes of angostura bitters, and a maraschino cherry and/or orange peel as garnish, this cocktail can be served up or on the rocks. Below are three different styles to play with and our bourbon and vermouth recommendations for each to choose from.

Classic Manhattan

The quintessential version of the Manhattan cocktail uses bourbon and sweet vermouth, with bitters, and garnished with a maraschino cherry.

Dry Manhattan

This version uses dry vermouth and is garnished with a twist of lemon. Use regular bourbon or experiment with rye for a sharper taste alongside trademark cereal and grain notes.

Rob Roy

This variation uses Scotch as the whiskey base.
