Il Bastardo Sangiovese di Toscana IGT

Il Bastardo is a great value in a fun, memorable, and lively package that compares to most Chiantis at a fraction of the price. Produced by Renzo Masi a family-run winery in the Rufina area of Tuscany, Il Bastardo's vineyards lie in the Sieve Valley, one the premier sites for Sangiovese. This dark, ruby-red wine has an aromatic nose, with blackberry and cherry aromas and flavors. On the palate it is medium bodied with good tannins and an overall Chianti-like fruit finish. Il Bastardo is a junior Chianti and can be enjoyed with similar fare: pasta with red sauce, pizza, roasted chicken, steak, and lamb. (from the vintner)
