La Bernarde is a certified organic, historic property in the village of Luc in the Côtes de Provence that has been restored by the owners of Commanderie de Peyrassol, utilizing the same winemaking team. This rock-laden limestone hillside, that neighbors the famed Peyrassol, produces what many consider to be the noblest rosés in Provence. At nearly 300m above sea level, the village sees snow most of winter, allowing for a longer and more balanced ripening of the grapes. In fact, harvests in this area start on average 10 days later than the lower lying sites. The organic farming and high altitude, cooler micro-climate sets La Bernarde apart from the hot flatlands of St. Tropez and the rest of Provence. This is a beautifully fresh and mineral driven organic rosé filled with floral notes of wild strawberry and white pepper that provide tremendous zip and energy. Incredibly refreshing and elegantly balanced, reflecting La Bernarde's high standards of farming and their dedication to making one of the brightest rosés in all of Provence. (from the vintner)
