Madame Clicquot created the first blended Rosé in 1818 by adding some red wine to Yellow Label champagne. This blend uses 12% red wine from red grapes specially raised and selected to give a marvelous balance to this rosé. The result is Veuve Clicquot Rosé, a fruity and full-bodied expression of the Veuve Clicquot style. Made using 50 to 60 different crus, the cuvee is based on Brut Yellow Label's traditional blend: 44 to 48% Pinot Noir, 13 to 18% Meunier, and 25 to 29% Chardonnay. The blend draws on a particularly high percentage of reserve wines, sometimes as much as 40%, originating from several harvests to ensure the consistency of the House style. Veuve Clicquot Rosé has an intense and elegant nose. Notes of raspberry, wild strawberry and cherry predominate, followed by a touch of dried fruits and pastry. On the palate, the attack is powerful, leaving behind a harmony of fruits. Elegant and sensual, the Rose offers exceptional balance and surprising intensity. The perfect complement to tuna, shrimp, red fruits, duck, smoked salmon, mimolette cheese, - drink now or age for up to 3 years. (from the vintner)
