Blue Quail Organic Chardonnay
2022, Chardonnay 100%, U.S.A.

Originally from NYC, Guinness McFadden moved out to California in the late 60s and was one of first to commercially farm grapes in Potter Valley. As he learned the ropes of farming, Guinness became convinced that he didn't need, or want, the chemical pesticides and herbicides commonly used in modern agriculture. Instead, he pursued more natural farming methods and joined the California Certified Organic Farmers in 1991. Wineries such as Robert Mondavi, Chateau Montelena, Sterling, Berenger, Navarro, Bonterra, Fetzer, and Piper Sonoma (among others) have purchased grapes from Guinness over the years, and as time went on, he decided to make wine under the Blue Quail label. The nose is fresh and bright with orchard fruit aromas and a touch of smoke and flint. Lush notes of ripe pear and apple blend with mouthwatering acidity to give backbone and verve. This Chardonnay sees no oak or malolactic fermentation, so you get a dry and bright palate that is fruit forward and built for food such as seafood, shellfish, poultry and cheeses. (from the vintner)
