Bodegas La Caña Albariño
2023, Albarino 100%, Spain
Bodegas La Caña was founded in 2007 by Jorge Ordóñez, who introduced Albariño to the United States for the first time in 1991. The philosophy of Bodegas La Caña is to make Albariño the old fashioned way, using very old vines planted on pergolas in the Valley of Salnés, the traditional area of production for this grape variety. The vines are cultivated completely by hand, and the viticulture is practicing organic without any irrigation. The wine ferments partially in neutral barrel and is aged on its lees, so it displays lovely texture and richness for an Albariño. La Caña Albarino has fantastic freshness and beautiful acidity that makes it a fantastic pairing with raw crudo, fleshier fish, and poultry, but can also stand on its own accord. (from the vintner)
