    Served with almost every meal in India, chutneys are popular as relishes with curries and as sauces for meats and fish. Major Grey's chutney is a sweet, sour and spicy blend reputed to have been created by a British Army officer in the 1800's during the height of the British Empire and is composed of mangoes cooked with raisins and spices.
