The Etude Estate Vineyard encompasses a long-term concept of sustainability that includes sensitivity to the environment and minimal impact on neighbors and the community. Unlike many vineyards that are planted in grids to maximize efficiency, the blocks for Etudes Estate Vineyard were customized to conform to the various soil types and the changing contours of the topography. Native flora and naturally occurring wetlands have been protected, and wildlife has been afforded safe passageways. As the grapes approach harvest, they are protected from hungry starlings by a falconer and a team of trained falcons — a novel, low impact method of crop protection.
Etude specializes in two classic reds: Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. A true ruby color is the first tell-tale of this intriguing Pinot Noir Carneros. Driven by aromas of black cherry and red berries, the fruit core of the wine is later enhanced by exceptional cedar and cardamom spices. On the palate, Pinot Noir Carneros is plush and elegant, with saturated dark fruit flavors and welcomed oak and forest floor notes. This cooler vintage offers ideal natural acidity, refined tannins and a generous, yet balanced, finish. (from the vintner)
