For over 150 years this landmark wine has been an international ambassador for fine Portuguese wines. Created by Jose Maria da Fonesca in 1850, Periquita is made from indigenous grapes in the Setubal Peninsula and is renowned for being Portugal's first bottled red.
Periquita celebrates the Portuguese way of life — laid-back, relaxed, warm and fruity, with a spicy nose! Aromas of red berries, dry figs, violets and mint lead into a soft and balanced fruit palate with a long, smooth finish. Serve with red meats, poultry and soft cheeses. This wine is unfiltered and may contain sediment. (from the vintner)
