This expansive (1,900 acres) and highly regarded vineyard across from Red Mountain allows the Monson Family to produce stunning quality wines while remaining sensibly priced.

    Washington State's famed Columbia Valley produces extraordinary grapes in large part due to the area's great soils—the result of massive flooding during the last Ice Age. Light and porous, these soils are frequently wind-blown, and the windy tops of the many high hills and ridgelines of the region are typically devoid of soil leaving a "stonecap" of rocks behind.

    StoneCap Cabernet Sauvignon exudes aromatics of baking spice with a subtle toastiness combined with red currants, black olive, and cured meat. This rich and robust wine has concentrated fruit flavors across the palate. A smooth, elegant, structured mouthfeel revolves around flavors of currants, dried cherry, cassis, and plums. The finish develops into structured, well-integrated, broad, spicy, and savory flavors accented with mocha and coffee. Grilled pepper steak, herb-roasted rack of lamb, BBQ chicken, and pasta with hearty meat sauce are favorites with this smooth and powerful wine. (from the vintner)
