- Fess Parker, the Texas-born television star made famous for his roles as Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone in the 1950s and 1960s, set out to plant small vineyards in Santa Barbara County. But, as Fess' daughter, Ashley explains, "Fess is from Texas, so he can't do anything small." The Fess Parker Winery and Vineyard now farms almost 700 acres on four vineyards throughout Santa Barbara County.
Chardonnay remains one of the family's specialties. The fruit is sourced from Santa Barbara's cooler climates and crafted into Burgundy-inspired, well-balanced Chardonnay of uncompromised quality. The addition of 4% Pinot Blanc, 3% Viognier and 3% Riesling, all aromatic varieties, adds pretty floral top notes and also gives the wine more of a white-blend (rather than a pure varietal Chardonnay) personality.
A straw-colored wine with aromas of golden delicious apple, pear, pineapple, honey, graham cracker, biscotti, almond, and vanilla. On the palate, flavors of citrus, lemon cream, green apple, and pear lead into a smooth finish of vanilla and lightly toasted oak. Enjoy with seafood (especially salmon and swordfish), chicken, and light pasta dishes. (from Fess Parker)
