Tavel was the first rosé to achieve appellation status in France in 1936. A historic wine with roots in the 10th century, Tavel wines were present on the Pope's table in the 14th century.
Since the 16th century, the Pélaquié family has cultivated vineyards and produced wine in the Southern Rhone Valley. The grapes for their Tavel are hand-picked. Grapes are put in a stainless tank for a few hours of maceration, gaining its vibrant pink-red color. The free run juice and the press juice are blended together before fermentation.
Deep pink-amber red color with brilliant reflections. The nose has floral and fruity notes of cherries, raspberries, and currants. Smooth and generous on the palate with rich fruit flavors and a long finish on fruit. Perfect with grilled poultry, white meats, and vegetables au gratin. (from Domaine Pélaquié)
