This storied Mas de Gourgonnier estate, run with passion and skill by Luc and Lucienne Cartier, has been farming and making wine organically for decades; they have been certified organic since 1975.
The estate is situated in the limestone mountains of the tiny commune of Les Baux de Provence, which has been named one of the most beautiful villages of France. The climate here can be very hot — the surrounding valley known as the Val d'Enfer (Valley of Hell) — so vineyards are nestled in cool hilltop sites. Baux-de-Provence is the first region in the world to require all vineyards to be farmed biodynamically.
The gorgeous property in the beautiful countryside yields powerful expressions of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan, and more — not to mention olives (their oil is one of France's finest), and incredible fruit and vegetables. Luc and Lucienne's wines combine the richness and intensity of top Rhone or Bordeaux with a crystal-clear and unmistakable expression of Provençal soil. This classic French rosé delivers aromas of watermelon, cherries, and white flowers. (from Mas de Gourgonnier)
