Black Bull 12-year-old, charges at you and shakes you up a bit, but then leaves you with a realization that this is what blended Scotch whisky should actually be like — a bit of rough and tumble with a silky smooth ending.
Black Bull takes robust and rich Highland and Speyside malt whiskies, matured in refill ex-sherry European Oak butts and refill ex-bourbon American Oak hogsheads, and blends them together with lowland grain, matured in refill ex-bourbon American Oak barrels, in a ratio of 50% malt to 50% grain and bottled at a powerful 50% abv to give you the ride of your life.
An amber colored whisky with robust, chunky aromas of sherry, red fruits, cherries, and toffee with a suggestion of vanilla and lemon sherbert. On the palate, creamy chocolate, fruit, and honey notes mingle with apple and an expressive nuttiness before a buttery toffee, long lasting, coordinated, silky finish. A whisky that comes at you at full charge initially, and then gradually soothes you with its bountiful palate and smooth finish. (from Black Bull)
