Groth is one of Napa's legendary wineries. Their elegant Sauvignon Blanc is consistently one of the best from California.
Groth's 100% family-owned Oakcross Winery is in the heart of Oakville and still operated by Dennis and Judy Groth and their children. The estate is sustainably farmed under the watchful eye of Ben Benson, Groth's original vineyard manager who has been with the property since its inception in 1982.
Groth's Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes grown in various microclimates of the Napa Valley. The warmer Napa Valley microclimates give grapes that result in wines with a lush, full melon/citrus character in the aroma and in the flavor. The cooler Napa Valley fruit provides a solid and crisp backbone that gives the wine an exciting liveliness that balances the rich creaminess from five months of "sur lie" aging.
The higher percentage of Semillon brings a big juicy mouth-feel and reinforces some of the tropical fruit flavors from the Sauvignon Blanc. The combination of juicy and tropical makes this wine versatile and capable of standing up to more complex dishes like teriyaki and Mexican food as well as Sauvignon's standbys like seafood, salads, and chicken.
