Spring44 is inspired by a natural spring located on East White Pine Mountain in Colorado's Buckhorn Canyon. The property is extremely remote within 160,000 acres of National Forest, accessible only by navigating an 11-mile dirt road, culminating with a 2.5-mile jeep trail climbing 2,000 feet of elevation.
Jeff Lindauer has been drinking from a spring there since he was a small boy and came up with the idea of using the water to produce craft spirits in 2008. How important is water in distilling? An 80-proof bottle of spirits is 60 percent water. Proper pH, minerality and total dissolved solids combine to create the taste and character of water. Distillers don't want to ruin the end result of their finished product by cutting distillate to proof with less than high quality water.
Spring44 Vodka is nicely dry up front with an essence of grain. An amazing creaminess with a velvety texture and depth on the mid palate. Finish is long with a rye spiciness. (from Spring44)
