Description
Located near Verona in the province of Veneto, Italy, Vinicola Bertani is one of the region's most important and influential wine producers. Founded in 1857 by two brothers, Vinicola Bertani owns its vineyards and oversees the entire winemaking cycle.
Harvest began in early September. Ripe, unblemished grapes are carefully laid out to dry, losing up to 60% of their water content, yielding concentrated sugar and flavors. Fermentation lasts 50 days. The wine is aged in oak casks for six and a half years.
Intense ruby with red highlights. The nose has hints of red fruit, prunes and sweet spices such as clove and cinnamon. Licorice, box hedge, thyme and nutty overtones develop later. The palate is elegant with supple tannins and flavors of dried cherries and figs. Enjoy with red meat, game, and mature cheeses. (from the vintner)
