Nicolas Girard is one of the rising stars in Sancerre. Although he works with his father Alain on the family estate, he also owns five acres of vineyard that he's been using to make wine on his own since 2006. We've been lucky to secure an allocation of this stupendous Sauvignon Blanc for the US.
This very elegant Sancerre is a pale lemon color with a bright, fresh nose of minerals and citrus fruit. On the palate, this wine melds the acidity of Sauvignon Blanc with a gorgeous mineral texture before a clean refreshing finish. Enjoy with goat cheese, shellfish (especially oysters), salads, and smoked salmon — this is one of the very best Sancerres we've tried all year. (from the vintner)
