A fresh, exciting red that should change the way you think about Rioja.
Rioja is a large region and, like Champagne and the Douro, is dominated by a small number of very large branded producers whose size dictates that they buy-in grapes and bulk wine from many growers and cooperatives. De Alto believes that one of the strengths of the region is the diversity and potential of its vineyards but, by definition, large brands are not best placed to express this.
Meaning "of height" or "of great respect," de Alto hints at the aspirations of the project and of the quality of what is in the bottle. De Alto craft wines in the best traditions of this classic region but fuse cutting-edge viticultural and winemaking techniques to create a modern interpretation of what they believe to be individual, pure expressions of the Rioja Baja vineyards that they call home.
A blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Graciano grapes, this delicious young red displays the beauty and potential of the region so well and it also is a great accompaniment to some of the richer foods available. We love this style but understand that many people want a little more spice and richness so we take the young succulent raspberry, cassis, cherry Joven style and blend in a little of the softer, more oaky wine to give a beautiful young red with succulent fruits, a touch of vanilla, chocolate, and just enough spice. Enjoy with charcuterie, grilled meats and chicken, tapas, and spicy cuisine. (from de Alto)
