Nicolas Girard is one of the rising stars in Sancerre and Menetou-Salon regions. Although he works with his father Alain on the family estate, he also owns eight acres of vineyard between these appellations that he's been using to make wine on his own since 2006.
Menetou-Salon, like its more famous neighboring sister Sancerre to the north, is a region that specializes in racy Sauvignon Blanc but at an excellent value. The nose is fresh and vibrant with floral and citrus notes that carry through on the round full palate. Enjoy with goat cheese, shellfish (especially oysters), salads, and smoked salmon — and get ready to be hooked on this up and coming Loire Valley region. (from the vintner)
