BABY'S BEEF & CARROT PUREE

Like a very simple beef stew just for baby, this purée brings together the rich flavor of root veggies and beef.

1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 cup carrots, sliced in 1" pieces

PREPARATION

1. Place the ground beef in a medium-sized saucepan. Cover with water, break apart with a wooden spoon, and simmer 5 to 10 minutes, or until meat is cooked. Remove from the heat, but reserve some cooking liquid for puréeing
2. Steam the carrots in a small amount of water until tender (about 20 minutes) or microwave in 1 to 2 tablespoons of water for 8 to 10 minutes.
3. In a blender or food processor, purée the ground meat and carrots to make a smooth mixture.
4. Divide purée into 1- to 2-tablespoon portions, and use immediately or freeze.
