Hot Honey Shrimp & Grits Recipe

This is home comfort food at its finest. Preparing it in a slow cooker, makes this Southern classic is as easy as can be. Here's how it's done: Place 1 c grits or cornmeal in a slow cooker and arrange 1 lb peeled and deveined shrimp on top. Pour over 4 1/2 c chicken broth. Cook 1 hour. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan over low heat, melt 1 tbsp butter with 3 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp honey, and 1 tbsp hot sauce. Mix well and let bubble before removing from heat. Stir 4 oz sharp cheddar and 2 tbsp salted butter into cooked shrimp and cornmeal. Divide between plates and drizzle with hot honey and chopped cilantro (if desired).
