The inspiration to make food your business: I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with my mom while I was growing up, and I loved preparing dinner for my family.
The road that led you to FreshDirect: I managed restaurants for many years, one which was the Parlour Cafe in ABC Carpet and Home. That's when I met Mitchel London of Mitchel London Foods, and became involved with his catering business. When he joined Fairway, I followed him and managed the catering department. I stayed there for three years and then decided FreshDirect would be a great opportunity
The secret of your success: I'm dedicated, I'm not afraid of hard work and I constantly look for ways to do everything better.
The reason why the food you sell is better and fresher than anyone else's: We use only absolutely fresh, high-end ingredients and handle them with "kid gloves." Every platter we make is prepared by well-trained staff using the strictest guidelines for quality, freshness and food safety.
Favorite thing to cook: I love making anything on an outdoor grill, and it's not exactly cooking, but I love to make fresh pesto.
Favorite thing to eat: Clams Posillipo
The best meal in the world is: There's nothing better than freshly shucked clams, oysters and fish that's freshly caught and cooked within a couple of hours from the time it comes out of the water.
Favorite restaurant: The original Bouley restaurant and Lespinasse.
The biggest change in the food world in the last 20 years: The overuse of food additives and all the diet products that are "sugar-free," "fat-free etc."
Best cooking tip: Have fun with your food and don't be afraid to experiment.
