A German apple from the early 1900s, thought to be an offspring of Cox's Orange Pippin. A crisp apple with a citrus flavor and a sprightly balance of sugars and acids. Sometimes it even has a hint of pear. Holstein apples are good for eating and cooking. Very juicy, they blend well with other apples in a pie or tart. They tend to be large with orange-reddish skin.
