This colorful plumcot (a plum-apricot hybrid) runs a bit larger than most plums, and the green and gold speckled skin holds juicy white flesh streaked with red. With a plum's sweet-but-tangy taste and juicy texture, the plumcot has a thicker skin for a crisp bite. Add to that some of an apricot's complex, fruity-spicy flavor, and you have one of the best fruits going. The explosive flavor is excellent for snacking, fruit salads or simple desserts. Try it in a stone fruit salad — chopped cherries, peaches and pluots over mixed greens with a simple balsamic vinaigrette. Plan ahead! Our plumcots will arrive firm. They'll soften in 3-5 days at room temperature, or you can speed up the process by storing them in a paper bag. When your plumcots yield to gentle pressure, they're ready.
