A Pandoro is a classic Italian holiday confection. This lofty, star-shaped cake is light and airy, with a sweet, buttery flavor. Typically covered with a flurry of powdered sugar, it is enjoyed during the holidays as is, or as a sweet snack dolloped with mascarpone or ice cream. Vergani started in 1944 in Milan, the birthplace of Panettone. Four generations later, they still craft their baked goods in Milan itself — they are in fact the only large producer to remain in the city.
