Alphonse Rochet bought Château Malbat in 1865 during the reign of Napoléon III and also during the phylloxera epidemic. In spite of the fact that these were troubled times for Bordeaux wines, Alphonse succeeded in building the foundations of the vineyard, which has since been passed on from generation to generation. This Bordeaux has ripe fruit aromas, particularly cherry and plum. The wine is elegant and fruity, with supple body, round tannins, and a smooth finish. A suitable pairing with leaner or more savory meats, like pork or duck. (from the vintner)
