Sampietrana 1952 Brindisi DOP Riserva

The top wine of the Sampietrana estate in southern Italy's Puglia region, this is one of our favorite values in red wine. The Brindisi Riserva is made up of Negroamaro and Montepulciano grapes and is aged in oak barriques for a year. It is an intense ruby-red in color. The nose and palate display notes of red and berry fruits and hints of vanilla. It has a delicate tannic grip and persistence that make it an ideal companion for roasts, barbecue, pasta with meat sauce, game, and lightly spiced ethnic dishes. (from the vintner)
