Lychee Fruit

Also known as Litchi, Lychee Nut. The lychee is like a giant grape with a nonskid surface, a sweet, flowery flavor and one smooth pit. The bumpy, papery peel tears away easily (start at the stem end). Inside, the lychee has a see-through, almost iridescent pearly white flesh that can stand alone as an exotic dessert. Lychees also play well in pork recipes or when mixed with melons, berries or citrus in fruit soups, salads, cocktails and ices.
